BACKGROUND:
>>>YES! INDIA is in ASIA and Indians are ASIAN!!<<<<
The Month of May has been declared as “THE ASIAN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH’ under Executive Order of the President. This was initiated by President Bush Sr., and continued by Presidents Clinton and Bush Jr.
“Asian-Indian” is a term recognized by the CENSUS 2000-for the first time - and revealed that over 150,000 Asian-Indians make the SF Bay area their home, with many, more residents of Indian-Origin. The City of San Jose (26,000) in Santa Clara County and Fremont (25,000) in Alameda County have the highest residents identified as Asian-Indian in SF Bay area. “Unfortunately, in popular parlance in America - Indians are not considered as “Asians”, even though Indian has the second largest population in Asia.” says organizer Sam Rao, after noticing this in several surveys in the community.
ASIAN INDIANS in AMERICA: Indians have migrated to USA for 100 years, and California was one of the earliest destinations. For example the farming in California owes a lot to the Asian-Indians-especially from Punjab State- many who work the farms till today, tending up to 75% of the peach farming in CA currently!
With an ancient tradition, culture and civilization of over 5000 years, people of Indian-origin have contributed to philosophy, spirituality and civilization and True Family values to the World and USA for many generations. “Now these ancient traditions and values are being kept alive in their next generations by Asian-Indian immigrants through their Children. You will find children, many born or being raised in the USA,learning Classical Indian Music and Traditional dance in Silicon Valley” said organizer Sam Rao.
The Free program includes Exhibits, Cultural program (Danc , Music & Showcase) and informational Literature about Asian Indian Heritage and Contributions to social fabric of America.
Come and join us to celebrate and enjoy a Glimpse of India as a part of a fascinating and rich cultural fabric of USA
